Columbia County Rider raises rates

COLUMBIA COUNTY – If you’re a frequent patron of the Columbia County Rider transit system, you may have noticed an uptick in the cost of a bus ticket.

The local transit system raised fares this week, citing increasing costs in everything from gasoline to labor and insurance.

As of Saturday, Nov. 1, fares for the Columbia County bus system increased by 80 cents for a general fare ticket to and from Portland, going from $4 to $4.80.

General monthly passes will increase from $90 to $106.80 and monthly passes for seniors, disabled riders and students/children will increase from $75 to $91.80.

Tickets for the general public riding between Scappoose and St. Helens will also go up by 80 cents, from $2.50 to $3.30.

For more information, or to view all fare changes, visit www.columbiacountyrider.com or call toll free at 1-888-462-6526.
