A Clatskanie woman was killed Friday, Jan. 9 after her car collided with another vehicle on U.S. Highway 30 near Rainier.
Oregon State Police say Anna Urban, 27, of Clatskanie was driving her two-door Pontiac Sunfire westbound on Highway 30 around 6 p.m. Friday when, for unknown reasons, she drifted into the eastbound lane and collided with a sport utility vehicle driven by James Aydelotte, 33, of Eagle, Idaho.
Urban was pronounced dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt. Aydelotte suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported by Clatskanie Fire Department paramedics to St. Johns Medical Center in Kelso, Wash. Aydelotte was wearing his seat belt.
Highway 30 was closed for about 3 and ½ hours following the crash. The Rainier Police Department, Columbia County Sheriff's Office, Clatskanie Fire Department and Oregon Department of Transportation assisted at the scene.
Oregon State Police from St. Helens and Astoria offices are continuing the investigation.
