No serious injuries are being reported after police say a Warren driver collided with a school bus that was transporting 21 children to Warren Elementary School on Highway 30 this morning.
Three students, however, did report minor injuries after the crash on Dec. 9 at 7:50 a.m., but did not require treatment. Oregon State Police say that the school bus was traveling northbound on the highway, about to turn left at the intersection with Berg Road, when a 2003 Buick LeSabre pulled out to head north and collided with the left front section of the bus.
The driver of the car, Thomas J. McDermott, 66, from Warren was cited for failing to obey a traffic control device. The front bumper of his car was cracked, but the school bus received no damage.
Scappoose School District Superintendent Paul Petersen said emergency response crews talked to each child to find out if they were OK and parents were notified as soon as possible to report them the situation.
"Everybody is doing fine," he said.
