Everything has been falling into place for the Scappoose Lady Indians soccer team as they headed into a critical match with league favorite Valley Catholic on Tuesday.
Last Monday, the Lady Indians thumped Faith Bible 5-0. The Tribe scored four first half goals, three of them by freshman Ariel Viera.
Viera scored her first just 49 seconds into the first half with an assist from Hayley Tuttle. She got another assist from Tuttle later and one goal on her own. Tuttle also had a goal to give Scappoose a 4-0 halftime lead. Viera has scored nine goals on the season, and has five in two league matches.
In the second half, Scappoose played everyone and tried some different positions. Senior defender and captain Emily Flanagan talked Coach Chris Dorough into letting her play up front. She scored her first high school goal.
The Lady Indians are playing in an at large 14-team district, but three schools don’t field girls’ soccer teams. That still leaves Scappoose with a one-round trip against the 10 other schools that do field teams.
