Second-year tennis coach Don Courtain sees positive things happening for the St. Helens High boys’ tennis team this season.

“We have a lot of raw ability,” he says. “It’ll take about three weeks to hone it down and we’ll be ready to be competitive.”

There were 22 boys out for the tennis team this season. The Lions don’t cut players. That means they’ll have 12 varsity matches and the other players will get a jayvee match.

Players expected to have an impact on the varsity include: seniors David Dunnington and Sam Iverson; Kevin Courtain, a junior; Ben Charbonneau, a senior; twins Cole and Will Charbonneau, both sophomores.

“I’m glad to have David and Sam, they’ve played quite a bit,” Courtain noted. “Kevin and Cole have the best form.”
