“Right now there are four teams that haven’t lost,” Dorough noted. “That puts us into a strong position at getting into the district playoffs.”
The top two teams play for seeding, while the number-five team plays at number-four and the winner plays at number three for the final playoff berth.
Dorough said Valley Catholic, Catlin Gabel, and OES (Oregon Episcopal School) are considered the top teams in district. Last year, Scappoose lost to Valley Catholic just 2-1.
Viera plays for a premier team (FC Portland) in the off season. It is coached by the Valley Catholic coach.
Dorough feels the Lady Indians are coming along well. “We’ve had some good strong performances–some glimpses where we’ve spread the field and got it back in. Our game against Seaside was a complete game. It was the first varsity year for Faith Bible and we were expected to do well. Sometimes you play down to your competition, but we went into the first half motivated and put it away early. We’ve had two strong performances.”
The Lady Indians travel to Banks on Thursday and host OES this coming Monday, Oct. 12.
